Manchester United start the 2025/26 Premier League at Old Trafford against Arsenal. But Rasmus Højlund won’t feature after a ruthless call from Ruben Amorim.
The 22-year-old striker joined United for £72m in 2023. Two years later, he sits behind £74m signing Benjamin Šeško and fit-again Joshua Zirkzee in the pecking order.
AC Milan and others want him, but Rasmus Højlund says he’s staying to fight. He already missed out against Fiorentina in pre-season, and now this opener only adds more fuel to the exit talk.
Asked about the Dane’s future, Amorim kept it short:
“He’s one more option. We will see. Rasmus is still our player.”
Šeško is set for a debut against Arsenal after just a week of training. Zirkzee should also return.
Despite the competition, Højlund stays defiant. On tour in the US, he said:
“My plan is clear – I’ll stay and fight. Competition sharpens me. I’m ready.”
Højlund has 26 goals in 95 games since leaving Atalanta. If United sell, they’d rather it be permanent than a loan. For now, his future hangs in the balance.
👀 Should United keep him or cash in?
